      Materials and Waste

1. Broadway green team/recycling set building materials
  • Description: Encourage the Pitt theatre department to reuse or recycle set building materials such as flats and 4x4s (as well as many other materials). If the theatre department cannot house materials for reuse, plan a path for them to periodically donate it to the Center for Creative Reuse or the materials center in the basement of Benedum. Coordinate with the Technical Director (TD), JC, in order to continue this project longterm. Discuss with the Department Chair, Annmarie Duggan, about what can be done to increase other sustainability within the Theatre Department and establish a Broadway Green Alliance chapter to commit the department to sustainability for the long-term.

2. RecycleMania for Greek Life
  • Description: This project would involve the fraternities around campus to compete against who can appropriately recycle the waste generated. This could be on a grand scale and join the national challenge which is an 8 week period or it could be a small scale project just privately between the fraternities. It is a goal to be able to calculate how much waste was generated.
